Royal Wedding - Prince William and Kate Middleton

Source : Trip A Round The World

The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton will undoubtedly be the event of the year. There hasn’t been anything like this since Lady Diana and Prince Charles married in 1981. Their wedding, which was held at St. Paul’s Cathedral, was televised and watched by a global audience of over 750 million people. Experts say that this year’s wedding is about to crush the records in the number of visitors and television audience. The wedding, which will take place on Friday, 29 April 2011 at Westminister Abbey, London, will earn the Royal family and the United Kingdom a large income from tourism, as well as trade through memorabilia. The event has its own site and on-line store. London hotels, which are located on the route of the Royal Wedding are already overbooked. It is said that this event will beat in popularity even the next year’s Olympics. People who cannot find free rooms on the route of the wedding started booking serviced apartments or even hotels, which are away of it, such as Heathrow hotels. “It is a little away of the route, but we will still go and see the wedding” – they say. The airports will boost a week earlier. The authorities are expecting at least 600 000 additional visitors on the very day (600,000 being the number of additional visitors in London for the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981).

Visitors of London can already buy souvenirs with a picture of Prince William and Kate Middleton. They are widely spread amongst Royal Family fans. There are teddy bears, flags, duplicates of Kate Middleton’s ring, and many more. The Royal Mint even released a coin, which shows Prince William in profile, and his bride-to-be Kate Middleton face on. The coin was designed by the Royal Mint’s in-house engraving team and is the first ever royal engagement coin to be produced. It can be ordered on-line for between £9.99 and up to £1,550 for a gold version.

Some hotels in Mayfair and Hyde Park offer royal wedding packages, which will give you an experience of a lifetime.
